About The Wild Animal Sanctuary

The Wild Animal Sanctuary operates on two total sites in Colorado which total over 10,000 acres of land! The mission of this amazing organization is rescuing animals from abusive situations and rehabilitate them so they can live in peace with other animals in large, natural habitats. There are currently over 25,000 bears, lions, tigers, wolves and other large animals that are living outside of the American zoo system, found in private residences in peoples backyards, basements, garages and other horrible places. The Wild Animal Sanctuary rescues these amazing animals and allows them a life of freedom.

It is very important to the Wild Animal Sanctuary that visitors do not come for the wrong reason, as this is not just a place for entertainment. This is a place to learn about the wildlife and respect them from a distance. They get over 150,000 visitors a year, but purposely try to avoid getting the numbers similar to the Denver Zoo, which is closer to 1.5 million.

There is a minimal fee to enter the facility, but this fee only goes to cover the cost of hosting the guests. None of the money goes towards helping the animals, which is why it’s important for you to know that donations are extremely appreciated and will go directly towards helping the facility if you do decide to visit!
